Overview
Microsoft Copilot is the consumer AI assistant that grew out of Bing Chat. The free version chats, writes and summarises, answers questions with live web search, summarises pages inside Edge, and adds chat history, image creation, longer conversations and voice once you sign in. It runs in the browser, in its own desktop and mobile apps, and in Edge. Paying for a Microsoft 365 plan raises the usage limits and, more importantly, puts Copilot inside Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and OneNote, where it can work with your own documents, email and calendar.
Enki verdict
The easiest free assistant to reach on a Windows PC, and the obvious pick if you already pay for Microsoft 365; on its own it trails ChatGPT and Claude.
