Overview

Meta AI is Meta's AI assistant, available in the Meta AI app, at meta.ai, and inside WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, Messenger and Threads. Since April 2026 it runs on Muse Spark, the first model from Meta Superintelligence Labs, with Instant and Thinking modes, a shopping mode that searches Facebook Marketplace alongside the web, and image and video generation. On Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses you can talk to it hands-free and ask about what the camera sees. Meta says Meta AI is free for everyone, and Meta One plans from $7.99 a month add more image and video generation where they are offered. Muse, Meta's personal agent that books and buys for you, is a separate app.

Enki verdict

The easiest free assistant to reach if you already live in WhatsApp or Instagram, but its use of chats for training and ads makes it a poor home for anything private.

Meta AI FAQ

Is Meta AI free?
Yes. Meta says Meta AI is free for everyone, with a daily limit on advanced features like image and video generation. Meta One plans from $7.99 a month raise that limit where they are available.
How much does Meta One cost?
Meta's plans page lists Meta One Core at $7.99 a month and Meta One Premium at $19.99 a month, billed through the App Store or Google Play. Both add AI usage and include Instagram Plus, Facebook Plus and WhatsApp Plus. Meta One is in limited testing and prices vary by country.
Is Meta AI safe and private?
You must be at least 13, or older where local law requires. Meta uses your chats with its AI to improve AI at Meta and, depending on your region, to personalize content and ads, and conversations may be reviewed by people. Meta says it does not train on private messages with friends and family unless someone in the chat shares them with Meta AI.
What is the difference between Meta AI and Muse?
Meta AI is the assistant you chat with across Meta's apps and glasses. Muse, launched in September 2026, is a separate personal agent that runs on its own cloud computer and takes actions such as sending email or booking travel, in the Muse app or in WhatsApp.
Meta AI vs ChatGPT: which is better?
Meta AI is free and built into WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook and Meta's glasses, so you can use it without installing anything new. ChatGPT is a standalone assistant with paid plans and deeper tools such as agent mode and Codex. Use Meta AI for quick help where you already chat, and ChatGPT for heavier work.
Does Meta AI work on Ray-Ban Meta glasses?
Yes. Meta AI runs on Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta and Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, where you ask by voice and can use live AI to ask about what you are looking at. Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) adds an action button for instant access to Meta AI.
