Overview
Kiro is an agentic development environment built by a team within AWS. Its signature is spec-driven development: it turns a prompt into requirements, a design and a task list, then agents implement them. Hooks run background jobs such as updating docs or writing tests, and steering files carry project guidance everywhere. It runs as an IDE based on Code OSS (so VS Code settings and Open VSX extensions carry over), a CLI, a web app with cloud sandboxes that open PRs, and a mobile app. No AWS account is needed to sign in.
Enki verdict
The most structured of the AI IDEs: if you want a plan you can review before agents write code, Kiro is built for it.
