Enki verdict

Cursor and Kiro are both AI IDEs at $20 a month, but they approach the work differently. Cursor is agent first: you ask, its agent edits across the codebase, and Tab completions, cloud agents and Bugbot review fill in around it. Kiro is spec first: it turns a prompt into requirements, a design and a task list you can review before its agents write any code.

Pricing works differently too. Kiro sells fixed monthly credits (1,000 on Pro, up to 10,000 on Power) with extra credits at $0.04 each. Cursor includes a usage allowance on each plan and bills anything beyond it at the model's API price, which Cursor says typically adds up to $60 to $100 a month for daily agent users.

Pick Cursor for speed and the widest set of models and surrounding tools. Pick Kiro if you want a reviewable plan before code changes, or predictable credit-based spend.

Pick Cursor if

  • You want the fastest edit loop, with Tab completions and an agent
  • You use many models and want them in one editor
  • You want cloud agents and automatic PR review (Bugbot)

Pick Kiro if

  • You want requirements, a design and tasks before any code
  • You prefer fixed monthly credits with cheap $0.04 add-ons
  • Your team signs in through AWS IAM Identity Center
