Overview
Kimi is the assistant from Moonshot AI, the Beijing lab behind the open-weight Kimi K2 and K3 models. Its newest model, Kimi K3.1 Pro, has a one million token context window and drives agent tasks such as Deep Research, slide decks, documents, spreadsheets, website builds and 3D models. Kimi runs on the web, iOS, Android and HarmonyOS, with the Kimi Work desktop app for Windows and Apple silicon Macs and the Kimi Code coding agent. There is a free plan; paid memberships start at $15 a month billed annually, or $19 monthly, and all agent features draw on one shared credit pool.
Enki verdict
Kimi packs more agent work, from research reports to slides, sites and code, into one membership than most rivals, but its privacy policy keeps your data in China.

Kimi FAQ
- Is Kimi free?
- Yes. Kimi's free plan covers chat and agent features with one agent task at a time, 2 projects and 500MB of storage. Kimi Code, Swarm and the faster K3.1 Pro Highspeed need a paid plan, from $15 a month billed annually.
- How much does Kimi cost?
- Plus is $19 a month, Pro $39, Max $99 and Ultra $199, or $15, $31, $79 and $159 a month billed annually. Business costs $600 per seat a year with a minimum of 2 seats.
- Is Kimi safe to use?
- Kimi's privacy policy, from Beijing Moonshot Technology, says it stores personal information in the People's Republic of China and uses de-identified inputs and outputs to optimize its models. You can ask customer service to stop using your content for training, and under-18s need a guardian's consent.
- Is Kimi K3 open source?
- Kimi K3's weights are on Hugging Face under Moonshot's own Kimi K3 License, a 2.8 trillion parameter model with 104 billion active and a one million token context. Moonshot said the full Kimi K3.1 Pro weights would follow by November 4, 2026; they were not yet listed on its Hugging Face page when we checked that day.
- Kimi vs DeepSeek: which is better?
- Both come from Chinese labs that publish open weights and store chat data in China. DeepSeek's chat app has no paid plan, while Kimi sells memberships for agent work such as Deep Research, slides, website builds and the Kimi Code coding agent.
- What can Kimi do?
- Beyond chat, Kimi runs agent tasks that produce research reports, slide decks, documents, spreadsheets, websites and 3D models. Paid plans add Kimi Code for programming and scheduled tasks that run on their own and push results to you.
