Overview

Base44 builds full-stack web apps, websites and AI agents from a chat prompt, and runs them on its own managed backend with a database, user login, hosting and analytics. It is aimed at people who want a working app without setting up infrastructure, from founders to teams building internal tools. Builder plans and up add two-way GitHub sync, ZIP export of a React and Vite project, and app files for the App Store and Google Play, though the code still depends on Base44's backend. Wix bought Base44 in June 2025. There is a free plan, and paid plans start at $16 a month billed annually.

Enki verdict

Base44 FAQ

Is Base44 free?
Yes. The free plan gives 25 message credits a month, no more than 5 a day, plus 100 integration credits and up to 5 public apps. A small edit costs about 0.5 credits and an app-wide change 3 to 4, so the free allowance covers a small project.
How much does Base44 cost?
Billed annually, Starter is $16 a month, Builder $40, Pro $80 and Elite $160. Month to month they cost $20, $50, $100 and $200. Unused credits expire at each monthly reset, and plans are non-refundable.
What is the difference between Base44 and Lovable?
Both build full-stack web apps from a chat prompt. Base44 runs every app on its own backend, which you cannot self-host, while Lovable's backend is based on Supabase and can be swapped for your own Supabase project. Base44's paid plans start lower, at $16 a month billed annually against Lovable's $21, but its free plan allows 25 message credits a month to Lovable's 30.
Can I export my code from Base44?
Yes, on the Builder plan and up: you can sync both ways with GitHub or download a React and Vite project as a ZIP. The exported code still calls Base44's backend for data, logins and functions, and Base44 does not support self-hosting it.
Is Base44 safe, and does it train on my data?
Base44 says it is SOC 2 Type II compliant and ISO 27001 certified, and encrypts app data in transit and at rest. On every plan except Enterprise your data can be used to train AI models, and there is no opt-out setting.
Who owns Base44?
Wix. It bought Base44 in June 2025 for about $80 million up front plus earn-out payments through 2029, and runs it as a distinct product and business. Maor Shlomo, who founded it, remains its CEO.
