Overview
Clay is a spreadsheet-native growth engine: pull in leads, enrich them from 100+ data providers in one place, and use an AI research agent (Claygent) to gather custom signals and write personalized messages at scale. It replaces a stack of disconnected enrichment tools and powers highly targeted, non-generic outbound.
Enki verdict
Extraordinarily powerful for modern outbound if you invest in learning it; overkill for simple list-building.

Clay FAQ
- Is Clay free?
- Yes. Clay's free plan includes 100 data credits and 500 actions a month, unlimited seats, Claygent and multi-provider waterfalls, with tables capped at 200 rows.
- How much does Clay cost?
- Launch is $185 a month, or $167 a month billed annually, with 2,500 data credits and 15,000 actions. Growth is $495 a month, or $446 billed annually, with 6,000 data credits and 40,000 actions. Enterprise is custom with an annual commitment.
- What is the difference between data credits and actions?
- Data credits pay for enrichment data from Clay's providers, such as emails and phone numbers, starting at about 5 cents each. Actions pay for the work Clay does on the platform, such as running a column or an automation, and cost less than a cent each.
- Is Clay worth it for an early-stage startup?
- It is if outbound is a core channel and someone will invest time in learning it, because Clay replaces several separate data and research tools. For a founder sending a few dozen emails a week, the free plan or a CRM and a general AI assistant will do.
