Meta gives Muse email, Mac control, video chat and a pocket gadget at Connect 2026

At Connect 2026, Meta laid out a long list of upgrades for its weeks-old Muse agent, including its own email address, computer use on Macs, live avatar calls, a place on smart glasses and a dedicated handheld device due in December.
Meta used its annual Connect keynote in Menlo Park on Wednesday to put Muse, the personal agent it launched in early September, at the center of its AI strategy. Mark Zuckerberg and chief AI officer Alexandr Wang described new powers for the agent, new places for it to live, and a business model built on commerce (full event coverage).
The Verge reported that Muse has topped App Store charts and was reportedly downloaded more than ChatGPT on mobile during its first 12 days. According to TechCrunch, the agent runs on Muse Spark, a multimodal model Meta built for agentic work.
An agent with its own inbox and a desktop
Meta says each agent will get its own email address, which it can use to complete tasks and which users can write to directly. People will also be able to copy Muse on a thread or forward messages for it to handle. Wang said the feature is on the way soon but gave no date.
Meta is also adding computer use to its recently launched Mac app, so Muse can operate any application on the desktop, much like agents from OpenAI and Anthropic. Wang pitched it as help for running a small business, with work continuing after the user walks away.
Users will also be able to hold live video calls with a Muse avatar. A new model called Muse Realtime Avatar drives how the character moves, and Meta says people will be able to adjust its voice as well as its look.
Shopping is the business model
Zuckerberg told the audience Muse would be free "for a huge number of tokens," as TechCrunch reported, with Meta expecting to profit over time by taking a small cut of transactions. Wang said Muse can browse the full Shopify catalog and pay through Shop Pay, with added PayPal support, and Meta has signed Stripe as well. Retail connectors include Best Buy, Gap, Sephora, Walmart and Wayfair, plus Expedia now and Instacart later. GitHub, Granola and Notion are also connected.
Wang said a newly opened program for outside developers to build connectors drew more than 1,500 applications within a week.
Glasses, and a gadget for people without them
Meta says it is working on Muse for its smart glasses, including the new models shown at Connect. Users would wake it by name and ask it to coach a workout, record meals, book an appointment or buy an item in view, with the agent working in the background and reporting back. The Verge's glasses rundown notes Meta has committed only to a launch in the coming months. In a hands-on demo, a Verge reviewer found Muse could shop for snacks but stumbled when asked to add a second item.
The lineup adds the camera-free Ray-Ban Meta Audio at $349, a response to the covert recording backlash, per TechCrunch. Wired lists the camera-equipped Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 from $449. Wearers will be able to opt out of visual data being used for AI training, though audio queries still will be.
The final reveal was the Muse Charm, a palm-sized device with a screen showing the avatar and a fingerprint sensor that starts a conversation with no phone to unlock. TechCrunch reported Zuckerberg's promise that it will ship for the December holidays. The Verge noted Meta has built only a few units, has not explained how the device reaches Meta's servers, and compared it to the Rabbit R1.
What it means for founders
- Commerce agents now have a giant distributor. A Muse connector reaches Meta's audience, but Meta plans to take a transaction fee, so model that margin first.
- The connector program is an early land grab. More than 1,500 applications in a week points to crowded shelves; usefulness will matter more than speed of sign-up.
- Agent email changes how software gets used. If agents hold their own inboxes and drive desktops, products that assume a human at the keyboard may need agent-friendly flows, clear permissions and audit trails.
- Treat launch dates as soft. Glasses support is undated and few Charms exist, so plan around the email and Mac features first.
